Two Kenyans And One Ethiopian Under Investigations For Allegedly Helping A Chinese Runner Win The Race In Beijing Half Marathon Held On Sunday.

The Beijing half marathon organizers have started an investigation following a potential race fixing accusations that two Kenyans and One Ethiopian intentionally allowed He Jie a Chinese national win the half marathon race held on Sunday in Beijing.

The investigations were launched once  a video clip that was circulated on social media platforms clearly showing the three athletes slowing down toward the finishing line allowing He Jie to win the marathon.  He Jie was the Asian Games Gold medalist held in 2023.

He Jie was seen celebrating after winning the race despite a clear indication that he was given the privilege to win. He won the race ahead of his colleagues the two Kenyans and an Ethiopian by one second.

Following the intentional slowing as they approach the finish line, the two Kenyans and the Ethiopian national embraced and congratulated He Jie in an apparent prearranged win.

Furthermore, a gesture was made to He Jie to pass them when they were close to the finishing line concluding that perhaps it was a planned victory.

The organizers promised to thoroughly investigate the matter and announce the results to the public once they are available.

From the World Athletics available sources it was discovered that the two Kenyan athletes who aided He Jie win the race were represented by a Chinese agent.

The supporters of He Jie disagreed with the news saying that this would ruin his reputation in Sports and it might deny him a chance to compete in Sports in future competitions.

The motive behind the collaboration is not yet identified but according to sports commentators is that the three athletes might have colluded to earn race fees guaranteed to African athletes or any bonuses for assisting a certain runner win a race.

The Chinese media congratulated He Jies for his victorious win not forgetting the three athletes for assisting him to achieve his victory.

Recently Long-distance runners from China have gained more popularity lifting their country high in terms of sports. However, there have been various incidents of athletes doping and cheating rebuking their integrity in competitions.
